Thanksgiving for our new school (again)
This past week I've been thinking about grateful I am for our new school building. The awe of having this new building has not worn off. I hope I will never take it for granted! Here are some things that caused me to reflect on my thankfulness this past week:
1. At the old school our cafeteria was in the basement. It was damp, cold and not inviting at all. I never ate there. It wasn't the cook's fault, it was just the environment. Now we have this beautiful cafeteria on the third floor. And that's not all. This week we had our faculty Christmas party and we held it in the cafeteria. We decorated it and it looked so nice. During the day I cut up vegetables and helped Gretchen make chili for the supper. We made the chili in another small kitchen that we have available to us. It was so nice to have this place to prepare our food. We couldn't have done that at our other school.
2. The bathrooms. Last year to use the restroom I had to go down a long cold hallway. The bathroom was unheated and there was no hot water' I used to have to psyche my self up to make the trek down the hall! Now I have a faculty bathroom very close to my office, it's warm, clean and has hot water. AND, it has heated toilets! Can you imagine?! What luxury! :)
3. Yesterday, we held a math competition at our school. It went so well. All of the other schools that participated commented on what a good job our head math teacher did in organizing it. Part of the reason it went so well is that we have nice facilities to hold it in now.
4. Friday night we had the Middle school and High school Christmas concert. We got to have it in our own auditorium. The auditorium was full! In the past we always had to have in another location and only about 50 people would come. There were about 350 people there for this concert.
Thank you Lord for the blessing of our new school.
